The Daviess Co. census enumerator in 1840 was John A. Williams. He identified the residents of the towns of Gallatin and of Cravensville. The remainder of the names were grouped into two districts, Gallatin and Cravensville. Pages 1 through 7 were associated with Gallatin District, pages 8 through 15 with Cravensville District.

An asterisk (*) after a name indicates the census entry is unclear. Enumerators misspelled many names in the Federal census. Scrawled and faded handwriting cause additional errors by researchers. Please report any spelling errors to the webmaster.
