Dr. Joseph Singer Halstead left his native Kentucky in March 1841 to find a
suitable location for the practice of medicine. He went to Richmond, Ray
County, Missouri and formed a partnership with Dr. Nathaniel Davis in April
1841. In February 1842 he returned to Kentucky and remained there until
June 1855 when he purchased farm land in Section 27, Breckenridge Township,
Caldwell County, Missouri. He did not practice medicine after moving to
Breckenridge Twp. He died at the age of 107.
