Edward Wiley Payne

He was born Sept. 14, 1847 in Daviess Co., a son of Edward Henry Payne and
Eliza Hampton Poole. "Wiley" married his first cousin, Susan Ann
Payne, daughter of Henry Payne and Mary Catherine Fox. After their marriage, Wiley and Susan moved to Kansas and established a successful cattle business. He later became President of the Medicine Valley Bank in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. On April 30, 1884, he was shot and killed by bank robbers. His widow later married Anthony Wayne McKinney. |
