Henry Payne (1821-1913)

Born May 13, 1821 in Bourbon Co., Kentucky, he was a son of Henry Roussau
Payne (1781-1865) and Talitha Cumi Wyatt (1790-1846). Henry Jr. moved to
Daviess Co. in 1844. He married Mary Catherine Fox (1830-1901) on Dec. 24,
1847 in Daviess Co. Their six children were born there. In 1871,
he helped build the Lick Fork church near his home in Harrison Township,
making the pulpit and pews of native walnut. His wife died in 1901. The
following year, Henry went to Texas to live with his daughter, Mrs. Mary
Tuggle. He died there on Oct. 5, 1913. |
