These men died while in military service.


(1) Charles M. Hoge, Chillicothe, Mo. Born May 20, 1892. Son of Israel and Ellen Hoge. Enlisted in the Navy in May, 1918, and was sent as Baker Apprentice to Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Chicago, Ill. Contracted Spanish Influenza which developed into bronchial pneumonia, causing his death October 26, 1918.

(2) Walter S. Sherman, Utica, Mo. Born June 9, 1895, at Utica, Mo. Son of William and Mary L. Sherman. Enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to U.S.S. Black Arrow as Fireman, second class. Was serving on this ship when he met death by accident at Brooklyn, New York, March 13, 1919.

(3) Archie R. Taylor, Utica, Mo. Born Sept. 17, 1898. Son of R. W. and Nana L. Taylor. Enlisted in the Marines in 1917, and served with the Second Army Division in France. After the armistice was signed he was sent to Coblenz, Germany, with the Army of Occupation where he died May 13, 1919.
