The Moore Hotel in Lock Springs was also known as the Railroad Hotel because it was near the depot. It
was purchased in 1898 by Henry Eugene "Doc" Moore (standing at right foreground). His son
Homer Eugene Moore took over the operation of the hotel in June 1914 and continued until 1932.
Homer's wife, Maybelle Frances Tait, recalled that they kept as many as eleven boarders and
served meals to many travelers. Seated on the roof is Doc's son William Porter Moore, born about 1890 in Lock Springs.
The man standing in center foreground was affectionately called "Uncle Wash."
He was George Washington Litton (1842-1918), owner and operator of a dry goods and grocery store
in Lock Springs.
