"Josie" Shumate was born November 29, 1856 in Ohio, a daughter of William H. Shumate and his wife, Mary Susan Hale. Josie married (1) William W. Frith on May 1, 1873. She married
September 14, 1876 to (2) Americus Morgan (1856 - 1929). Josie died June 13, 1927 and is buried in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Sampsel Twp.
Josie's oldest daughter, Estella, was born about 1874, suggesting she was a daughter by Josie's first marriage.
