Lura Dunn Shumate was born April 13, 1866 in Jackson Twp., Livingston Co., Missouri. She was a daughter of William H. Shumate and his wife,
Martha Susan Hale. Lura married William Jefferson Wilson (1866 - 1936) on April 25, 1888 in Jackson Twp. This couple had five known children:
Berniece "Bernie" Wilson, Dr. Drury Wilson, Russell Owen Wilson, Harry Wilson and Byrda Virginia Wilson.
Lura died February 18, 1948 in Boonville, Missouri. She was buried next to her husband in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Sampsel Twp.
