Wilkie Milton Owen was born December 1, 1881 in Faulkner County, Arkansas. He was a rural mail carrier in Sampsel Township. That's him at the wheel of
this Model T Ford. In good weather, he delivered the mail in this car. When the dirt roads weren't passable in a car he used a team of horses and his mail buggy
to deliver the mail. The house in the background was the home of Wilkie's in-laws, William J. Wilson and wife Lura Dunn Shumate. Wilkie died June 21, 1951
in Sampsel Township. Wilkie and his wife, Berniece Wilson, are buried in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
