William and Martha Shumate Home

This is the Shumate home, north of Sampsel, Livingston Co., Missouri. Martha Susan Hale and husband William H. Shumate first lived in a two-story log home to the east of this house. The log home was destroyed by fire. The original home (top photo) did not have the front porch on it; it was added later.
