Grand River Campers
in 1911

The young adults of Mooresville Twp. enjoyed many overnight camping trips to nearby Grand River. These social functions
were always chaperoned. Typically, the men slept on the ground near the tent while the ladies slept in a corn crib or other farm building.

One of the chaperones in this photo is Lloyd Alvin Flenniken (1883-1966), standing and wearing a necktie.
Next to him, in front of the tent, is Miss Lucy McMillen (1869-1962), also a chaperone.
Standing, second from left, is Sadie Jane "Sallie" Benson. Seated, from left, the first two are unidentified,
then Agnes Vey Fiske, Floyd Fiske, Gladys Hudgins, John Jones, unknown, Ola Cecile Fiske and Ruth Ireland.
