"Rhoda Cross, the Mooresville girl who was brought to the county infirmary a week ago Sunday a raving maniac, was released and sent to her home, entirely rational, Monday. When the unfortunate girl was first brought to the infirmary she was wild. She became quieter day by day.

"Miss Cross is the daughter of Mrs. Tomlin who lives a mile north of Mooresville. Her father [Samuel Cross] is dead. The cause of her temporary insanity is supposed to have been an infatuation for a young man who lives in Chillicothe. The girl was always sentimental and she brooded over her love affair until her mind was deranged."     --Chillicothe Constitution, November 6, 1903.
