Shelton H. Brock (1837-1863)

He was the first postmaster in Mooresville and also operated a general store in town. He married Mary Ellen Moore, daughter of William B. Moore, founder of the town. Shelton was a staunch Union supporter; he was murdered in his store after he paid for a carload of feed for horses of Union troops. Four Confederate sympathizers were murdered in the township.
