Theophilus Fiske, MD

[Dr. Theophilus Fiske]

Dr. Theophilus Fiske was a surgeon in the Confederate army. After the war, he moved with his family to Mooresville, Livingston Co., Missouri, where he built the Mooresville Mineral Springs hotel. Most of the guests at the hotel were patients who believed the waters of the nearby mineral springs had curative powers over stomach ailments. Patients came from virtually every state. They drank and bathed in the water under the care of Dr. Fiske. Weekend guests enjoyed the festive atmosphere of the White Horse Inn, complete with alcoholic beverages.
