2 1/2 miles south of Avalon, Missouri. Estimated two acres,fenced, maintained.

AVALON CEMETERY

About 1/4 mile south of Avalon, on gravel road from junction Routes H and JJ. Fenced, maintained, good condition.

BEDFORD CEMETERY

Three miles north of Ludlow on Route D to "S" curve, south 1/4 mile. Fenced, maintained, fair condition.

BILLS CEMETERY
Sampsel Township Section 4, T56 (T58?) R25
North from Highway 190 on Route U 1.5 to 2 miles, through field and pasture about 1/2 mile. Fenced, small, some maintenance, one large stone, four graves. Stones were removed from other graves and only Bills family lot remains.

On State Route A, 1 3/4 mile northwest of junction of Routes A and W. Fenced, old, small, fair condition.

BLACKBURN CEMETERY

West of Chillicothe on 190 to Route U, north seven miles, on west side of Everett Wilson farm. A new rail fence can be seen around a few graves. No stones standing. Has been bulldozed.

BLUE MOUND CEMETERY

Route Z, 1/2 mile north of Blue Mound on west side of road. Estimated three acres. Fenced, maintained, many nice stones, excellent condition.

BOUCHER (Now Gibbons) CEMETERY

Ten miles west of Chillicothe on 190, about 1/2 mile south, about 1/2 mile west. One quarter mile west of Pleasant Ridge Church.

BOYLE CEMETERY

About 200 yards south of junction of Route Y and W, in pasture. Small, ornamental fence, needs repair, minimal maintenance until 1988, poor condition.

BRASSFIELD CEMETERY

BROOKSHIER CEMETERY

About one mile east of Daviess County line on 190, then south on a private lane to family plot on Harold Litton farm. Maintained,not fenced, good condition.

BRUMMITT-COX CEMETERY

About 3/4 mile west of State Road W on Grundy County line. Impressive, large stones, fenced on two sides, corner lot. Maintained, good condition.

BURNSIDE CEMETERY

Five miles west of Bedford. Active, has old fences, about two acres. Maintained, fair condition.

CAMERON CEMETERY

North of Hale, Missouri, on State Highway 139. Fenced, maintained, good condition.

CATHOLIC CEMETERY

From Highway 65 in Chillicothe, east on Polk Street to Broadway, North to Trenton Road, east from north side of Airline Trailer Court. Large, maintained, excellent condition.

CHRISTISON CEMETERY
Blue Mound Township NE/4 Section 3, T56 R24
West of Route Z about 1 mile, then 1/2 mile south of junction Highway 65 and Route Z. Fenced, maintained, good condition.

CLARK BURIAL GROUND
Mooresville Township Section 8, T57 R25
In timber, overgrown, not maintained, no fence, poor condition. The only remaining headstone is that of Joseph Clark's son, Jerome S. Clark (1843-1863). Several slaves are thought to be buried here.

COLLAR CEMETERY

About 2 1/2 miles south of Dawn, Missouri. Estimated three acres, fenced, maintained, several leaning stones, good condition.

8 and 1/4 miles west of Chillicothe on Highway 190, north side of road. Large, well maintained, not fenced, good condition.

West from Chillicothe on 190, North on Y to junction of Routes Y and W, one mile north, east on gravel road to first private road on north side, then to farmhouse. Northeast of house.

DAVIDSON CEMETERY

West from Chillicothe on 190 to Route A, east on A to east edge of Poosey State Forest, then walk north along old roadway to fork in road, go north on west fork about 1/4 mile to walnut grove. Few stones are found, no fences, not maintained, poor condition.

DAVIS CEMETERY
Jackson Township NW/4 or NE/4 Section 9, T59 R25
From Chillicothe, take 190 west to Route U, north to junction of Route A, east one mile, north 1/2 mile along Poosey State Forest land to circle, west 1/2 mile through field. There are ten to twelve rock markers that are believed to be slaves. Fenced, not maintained, poor condition.

DENNIS CEMETERY
Jackson Township SW corner Section 8, T59 R24
From Chillicothe, go west on Highway 190 to Route Y, north to Route W, north on W to second road. Turn right (east), take gravel lane to the right (south). There is a gate with "No Trespassing" but the owner will gladly let people go to the cemetery. The cemetery is very old, overgrown, surrounded by cedar trees. Most stones are down, fenced on two sides, not maintained, poor condition.

Situated on conservation land on south line of northwest corner. No maintenance, poor condition.

Follow Route A to north line of Section 15 to Ed Daugherty residence, then walk east on old road about 1/2 mile to cemetery on north side of fence. Fenced, abandoned, very poor condition.

In the northwest part of the city of Chillicothe. From Highway 65, go west on Bryan Street to Cemetery Lane then right to cemetery. Fenced, excellent condition, very large.

ELLIOTT CEMETERY

One mile east of Dawn, Missouri, north on private lane along field, walk 1/4 mile north to cemetery in timber. Fenced, no maintenance.

FAIRLAND CEMETERY
Grand River Township NW/4 Section 22, T56 R22
Highway 65 south from Chillicothe to Route H, east six miles, cemetery on north side. About 1 acre, well maintained.

FORREST PARK CEMETERY
Chillicothe Township NE/4 Section 25 (or S26), T58 R24
In Chillicothe, at the southwest corner of the golf course near the awimming pool. Fair condition.

GAUNT CEMETERY
Mooresville Township SW/4 Section 7, T57 R25
Northwest of Mooresville, 200 yards east of Caldwell County line. About two acres, old fences. No maintenance except small portion cleared in 1988. Graves need filling, poor condition. About twelve small gravestones were removed beteeen 1987 and 1995.

GIBBON FAMILY CEMETERY
Chillicothe Township Section 24, T58 R24
About two miles north of Chillicothe on Highway 65 to square, two-story house on west side of road, then west. On hill west of square house where gravestones are resting against a tree. Not maintained, poor condition, no fence.

GIBBONS CEMETERY (formerly Boucher Cemetery)
Sampsel Township NE/4 Section 21, T58 R25
From Chillicothe, drive ten miles west on Highway 190, then about 1/2 mile south, then west about 1/2 mile. The cemetery is one quarter mile west of Pleasant Ridge Church.

GIBBS CEMETERY
Jackson Township NE/4 Section 19, T58 R24
From Chillicothe, go west on Highway 190. One quarter mile from the junction of Route A, go 3/4 mile south to cemetery on west side of the road. It is across from Tibergien Cemetery on top of the hill. This is an abandoned family plot, overgrown, no maintenance, poor condition.

GLORE BURIAL GEOUND
Rich Hill Township Section 35, T58 R23
From Highway 65 in Chillicothe, go east on Route V about three miles to where V turns north, then two miles east then south to creek. Thirty steps north and forty steps west of the bridge. William F. Glore, one grave with a nice stone. In pasture, poor condition.

GUTHERIDGE or MOSELBY CEMETERY

From the junction of Route Y and Highway 190, go 4 3/4 miles north on Route Y. North of Brassfield Cemetery, on Doug Rester farm. Needs work, no maintenance, poor condition, fences very poor.

HICKLIN CEMETERY
Jackson Township Section 23, T59 R25
From the junction of state routes A and W, go west about 1/2 mile to the turn, then west to residence of Fred Young, then walk north across farm about 1.25 (or 0.5 mile). Very small, fenced, ababdoned.

HICKS CEMETERY

About 3 1/2 miles north of Highway 190 on Route U, in pasture of George Howland farm. At one time had many gravestones. Today, not one complete stone is found. Not fenced, no maintenance, very poor condition.

HUDGINS CEMETERY
Mooresville Township SW/4 Section 16, T57 R25
Behind the Christian Church in Mooresville. 31 stones, well maintained. Originally intended as a Confederate burial ground, this private cemetery is still in use. Two of the graves (half-brothers) are located near the church entrance.

HUTCHINSON CEMETERY

From the junction of old Highway 90 with new Highway 90, go west 1/4 mile to gravel road, then south to first road west, then west 1/2 mile. Old, fenced, maintained, good condition.

INDIAN BURIAL GROUND

Said to be on top of Ulmer's Bluff on land of Bob and Jerry Christison.

IRELAND CEMETERY
Mooresville Township NW/4 Section 19, T57 R25
One mile south of Mooresville. A family plot supposedly moved to Mooresville Cemetery.

JARVIS CEMETERY

2 1/2 miles west of Ludlow to large curve, west 1/4 mile, on right side in pasture.

JONES CEMETERY

From Highway 65 in Chillicithe, take Route V two miles east. Many stones down and leaning, maintained, fenced two sides, poor condition.

KENNEDY FAMILY CEMETERY
Jackson Township Section 17 or 18, T59 R24
At the junction of Routes Y and W, go north on W to the first gravel road to the right, then left at first gravel drive. Old, no fences, stones all down, overgrown, very poor condition.

KESSLER CEMETERY
Jackson Township NE corner Section 21, T59 R25
On conservation land. Five large stones, all erect, fenced, poor condition.

KIRK CEMETERY
Jackson Township SW/4 Section 8, T58 R24
West 1/4 mile from junction of Highway 190 and Route Y, then north on gravel road to last house, then walk 200 yards southeast to cemetery. Abandoned, few stones remain, overground, very poor condition.

KIRTLEY FAMILY CEMETERY
Mooresville Township SW/4 Section 14, T57 R25
A small plot 10 feet by 15 feet, once surrounded by a rock wall 12 inches high. This is 200 yards north of the brick house owned by Rodney Longwell. (This house was built in 1841 and is located east of Mooresville, on north side of Highway 36.) Fenced, no maintenance. A rifle of the style used in the American Revolution was partially imbedded in cement near a grave. The rifle was seen in the late 20th century but has since been removed.

LAWSON BURIAL GROUND
also called GREGORY CEMETERY Monroe Township NE/4 (NW/4?) Section 2, T56 R25
Three miles north of Ludlow on Route D, then east 1 1/4 mile to a large barn on the south side of the road. Behind the house in southwest corner of rear yard. Ten gravestones plus a large stone marker. The large marker was moved to the Mooresville Cemetery but no mortal remains were moved.

From Chillicothe, take highway 65 south to Route H, then east to Highway 139, east almost to river. In eastern portion of Section 29 at end of lane. Old fences, no brush, poor condition. 25 readable stones.

LEOPOLIS CEMETERY

Five miles north of Wheeling on route B, then west two miles. Condition unknown.

LIGGETT CEMETERY
Jackson Township NE/4 Section 29 T59 R25
On private land, west from Bill Christison home about 3/4 mile. Large, completely overgrown, in timber, fences down, no maintenance.

LILY GROVE CEMETERY

From Chillicothe, go west on Highway 190, north on Route A, about two miles northwest of junction with Route W, behind Lily Grove church. Large,maintained, fenced, many impressive stones, good condition.

LOWRY-MASTRIES CEMETERY
Jackson Township NW/4 NW/4 Section 7, T59 R25
Walk from railroad overpass at county line road, southwest corner Section 18, walk north up canyon about 3/4 mile, then west to top of hill. Family plot in pasture. Five stones piled around hedge tree. No fences, not maintained, poor condition.

MABERRY (OAK GROVE) CEMETERY

Three miles west of Avalon, Missouri on Davenport farm. Large, fenced, overgrown except two small areas, poor condition.

MACEDONIA CEMETERY
Cream Ridge Township NE/4 Section 18 or Section 36, T59 R23 or R24
Five miles north of Chillicothe on Route 65. Fenced, maintained, several stones down, has been vandalized in the past, poor condition. This cemetery was initislly used for burial of county poor house inmates.

MATTHEWS CEMETERY

1/2 mile east of Route Z, 2 3/4 miles west of Highway 65. Four miled north of Carroll County line. Completely destroyed by bulldozer before 1988.

MAYBERRY CEMETERY

2.25 (or 0.5) mile west of Highway 65 on Route Z. Four miles north of Carroll County line. Completely destroyed by bulldozer before 1988.

Six and one-half miles north of Chillicothe on Route 65, then east 1 1/2 miles. Fenced, maintained, good condition.

MCCOSKRIE CEMETERY

Five miles west and north of Ludlow, Missouri on Route DD. Turn right 1/8 mile. Fenced, maintained, good condition.

MCCRARY BURIAL SITE
Mooresville Township Section 8, T57 R25
Located in side yard in northeast corner of Section 8. Samuel McCrary, the stillborn twin brother of Winifred McCrary, was buried here but the remains were moved to Mooresville Cemetery when Winifred died. Only a small bone fragment was found.

From junction of Highway 190 and Route A, north on Route A about 1 1/2 miles, then west 1/2 mile. Located on south side, behind Mt. Pleasant Church. Large, well maintained.

From Chillicothe, take Highway 65 north five miles, east 5 3/4 miles. one quarter mile off road on North side.

ROCKHOLD CEMETERY
Green Township SW/4 Section 13, T57 R24
This is shown in the 1876 atlas and the 1896 atlas. Located at north end of the old orchard west of Utica, on a very old east-west road. One grave is seen (covered with rocks) but no gravestones are found.

ROSS CEMETERY
Rich Hill Township NE/4 Section 15, T58 R23
East on Route V 5 1/4 miles, east one mile on gravel road. Maintained, good condition.

ROSSON CEMETERY
Jackson Township SE/4 Section 12, T59 R25
About two miles north of junction Routes W and Y, then west. Old, abandoned, fenced. One factory stone, others are carved in limestone rock with lettering that is readable by dusting method.

RUCKER CEMETERY
Mooresville Township NW/4 Section 15, T57 R25
Between Mooresville and Utica on Highway 36. Plot is on west side of gravel road, just west of the old brick mansion on north side of Highway 36. One gravestone (Edwin Rucker 1827-1853) is propped against a small tree. This burial ground was located on Rucker land but was used by traveling families as well as the Rucker family. About a dozen stones were seen here in the early part of the 20th century.

SHADY GROVE CEMETERY

On the north side of gravel road northeast of Mooresville. Fenced, not maintained, poor condition. Some of the smaller stones are missing.

SILVEY FAMILY CEMETERY
Grand River Township NW/4 Section 18, T56 R21
East on Route H from Highway 65 to Highway 139, east on 139 about two miles, two miles north of 139. Seven stones are lying at ridge point overlooking old river cutoff. It is presumed that this cemetery might have been moved from Section 13. Silveys once owned both sections. One stone was found recently (1988) in Section 13 across the road.

From Highway 65, go east on Route H to first gravel road east of Avalon, Missouri, north one mile, east one mile. About 50 feet square, fenced, not maintained, poor condition.

Seven miles north of Route 190 on Route U. Small, very old, maintained, fenced, fair condition.

African-American cemetery. East of Chillicothe on Highway 36 to first road past railroad overpass, then south 1/2 mile. Needs maintenance.

SPRINGHILL CEMETERY

North on Route A from Highway 190 about 3 miles, on right side. Large, maintained, fenced, several stones down, good condition overall.

STONE CEMETERY

About 1 mile west of Utica on top of hill. Maintained by Stamper family. Fenced, 17 stones, fair condition.

TIBERGHIEN CEMETERY

1/4 mile west of junction Highway 190 and Route Y, south about 1/2 mile. On east side of road across from Gibbs Cemetery. Abandoned, overgrown, fenced, poor condition.

TONER CEMETERY
Monroe Township N/2 Section 6, T56 R25
Five miles west and north of Ludlow on Route DD, west 1/2 mile to Sturgeon sawmill. Follow private lane around small buildings to gate, walk south and west to clump of trees around cemetery. Fenced, no maintenance, poor condition.

Four miles north from Highway 190 on Route Y, west one mile on gravel road to homesite, on hill looking northeast from homesite. Grave of infant buried alongside old wagon trail that angled northwest toward Jamesport. Grave is on Leonard Nibarger farm.

At junction of Routes Y and W, then east 100 yards. Old, abandoned, reduced by bulldozer from about 1/2 acre about 8 stones. Not maintained, no fences, poor condition.

VALDHE CEMETERY
Grand River Township South side Section 21, T56 R22
East on Route H to first gravel road south of junction with Route J, south 1 mile, east about 1/4 mile, walk 1/2 mile north from old barn, on north side. Very hilly area. Fenced 1/2 acre. 17 stones plus some small stones. Overgrown, abandoned, poor condition.

From Avalon go east on Route J to Route H. Continue east to first gravel road, go south 1.5 miles, east about 1/4 mile, walk 1/2 mile north from old barn.

North on Route V from Highway 190 to creek bottom, to pond at right, then east avout 1/2 mile to cemetery on hill. Near Grundy County line. Fenced, neglected, poor condition.

Eight miles north of Chillicothe on Highway 65, then east 3/4 mile, then south 1/4 mile along field. No maintenance, fenced, stones down, poor condition.

WARE CEMETERY

About 3 1/2 miles north of Highway 190 on Route U, then about 3/4 mile west of residence. Private land in southeast corner of the Section. Large, completely overgrown, in timber, fences down, poor condition.

WELSH CEMETERY
Blue Mound Township NE/4 Section 21, T56 R24
Two miles north and two miles west of Blue Mound. About 2 acres, fenced, maintained, good condition.

WHEELING CEMETERY
Wheeling Township SE/4 Section 5, T57 R22
On Highway 36 west of Wheeling junction, about one mile south of Wheeling. West of junction of Highway 36 and Route B. Large, well maintained, excellent condition.

WOLFSKILL CEMETERY
Grand River Township SW/4 Section 11, T56 R22
About 1 1/2 miles south of Bedford, on gravel road. 3/4 mile east, 1/3 mile north then east on a farm owned by Bill Marple. Cleared in 1986, poorly fenced.
