An article about Levi Goben was published in the Chillicothe Constitution, May 16, 1901, page 8. [Ref Lifelines, Vol. 3, No. 1, p. 18.] He was buried in Springhill, Livingston, Missouri. Levi kept a hotel in Spring Hill in 1870. He was a peddler there in 1880.

"M. V. Piper of Jackson Twp. has recently torn down the old Goben Hotel in Spring Hill, and will build himself and wife on the site where it stood.

The Goben Hotel was built in the early ante-bellum days by Levi F. Goben. It probably was nearly seventy years old. Mr. Goben settled in Jackson township in 1833 and built this hotel soon after locating there.

The building was a two-story frame, Goben having hewn out every timber and every board used in its construction. It has not been used as a hotel for many years, but there was a long period of time that it served as the only hostelry for many miles around.
