P., is clearly 1865. However, the entry was made in Livingston Co. Marriage Book 1 which recorded marriages between 1837 and 1863. If the marriage had occurred in 1865 rather than 1855, it would have been recorded in Book 2. Minervia's second marriage was to Rufus M. Shattuck on July 1, 1860. The marriage record identifies the bride as Minervia Hudgins, proving the earlier marriage to James W. Hudgins. The second marriage of James and Minervia, in 1868, is recorded in Book 2. They filed for divorce on 13 August 1859 in Chillicothe, Livingston, Missouri. Minerva charged Jim with abuse. The divorce was granted, and he was ordered to pay alimony of $65 per year for five years. Court records say there were two children by this first marriage of Jim and Minerva. They were married on 29 January 1868 in Livingston Co., Missouri. Jim Hudgins left home before July 1860. He later joined the 2nd Missouri Cavalry (Confederate), Company G. When he didn't return to Mooresville after the Civil War he was declared legally dead and his estate was settled on 31 March 1865. He then returned home and remarried Minerva in 1868. Jim was 5 ft. 6 in. tall, light hair, blue eyes, fair complexion in 1865. He was a member of United Confederate Veterans, Camp 541, at Mooresville. He was born east of Breckenridge near the county line and lived his entire life in Caldwell County. He taught school in Breckenridge for a time, later attending the university of Iowa. He graduated from Elsworth Medical College in St. Joseph. He then practiced medicine in Tinney's Grove, Nettleton and Breckenridge. He then practiced medicine in Braymer where he built up a large practice. Parents: Nehemiah Cardinal WOOLSEY and Elizabeth GOODMAN.

Ref WOOLSEY FAMILY OF AMERICA, LDS microfilm #1276468. Nehemiah Woolsey left Green County, Tennessee in 1817. He was in Missouri about 1818. He was in Ray County, Missouri in 1821 per the tax records. Nehemiah had three sons: Noah, Nehemiah Jr., and Stephen C. Woolsey. He had five daughters: Ruth, Mary, Sarah, Phoebe Ann and Abigail. The last two daughters were born "after Tennessee." Some members of this family left Tennessee in 1835 or 1836. Several other cousins of this family came to Missouri in the 1830s.

Nehemiah's will, recorded August 25, 1834, refers to him as "being mortally wounded." The will identifies his wife Ruth, Son Stephen C. Woolsey, sons Noah and Nehemiah, daughters Ruth Mann, Mary Carsner, Sarah Woolsey, Phoebe Ann Woolsey and Abigail Woolsey. Ruth's husband, Capt. William Mann, was co-executor with Noah Woolsey. Woolsey, age 24 in 1861 was wounded in an arm in the Civil War. He was admitted to a Confederate Hospital and was subsequently furloughed on Sep. 1, 1861. He was a member of the 1st Cavalry, Co.
